WELCOME TO THOMPSON COMMUNITY HALL

We are the new community hall in Thompson and are located on School Road between the Millennium Green and the School

We are very pleased to announce that the building is now progressing quickly. The builders expect to finish and hand the building over by the end of this year and we will then have the enjoyable task of equipping the hall and getting ready to open early in 2018.

We have an exciting future ahead. We have a beautiful location facing onto the Millennium Green, which will make us the perfect venue for weddings and parties. Our larger hall will seat 80 guests, the smaller will seat 40. The partition between the two halls can be moved aside to create one large hall. Our large foyer can be used on its own (using the foyer servery for drinks and snacks) or in conjunction with one or both of the halls. The separately hired kitchen will have the facilities to cater for all events. Our state of the art Audio Visual system will support cinema, conferences, workshops and talks, theatre and live music.

Visit our gallery for up to minute news and photos of our progress. Look out for details of our “look round days” when we will be open for coffee, chat and a guided tour. Let us have your contact details so we can send you the timing of these events.

We are all looking forward to seeing you.

THOSE WHO HELPED THE HALL BECOME A REALITY – A HUGE THANK YOU

Despite many years of fund raising, the prospect of a new hall seemed a long way off. Now, thanks to the great generosity of two benefactors, a number of donations and a lot of hard work by villagers raising funds the goal has finally been achieved. The legacy of Basil Bird, a long term village resident, enabled us to kick-start planning the new hall. We were able to finally start work on the plans following the wonderfully generous large legacy left to the village by Derek Jessup and his wife Clara specifically for hall provision.

THE DESIGN AND BUILD TEAM

The new hall’s innovative design was produced by award winning architect, Paul Lucas of Lucas Hickman Smith. The construction is being carried out by Draper & Nichols, who have won many awards for the diverse and imaginative buildings that they have worked on. Our gallery page shows the progress of the construction.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A PART OF THE FUTURE?

If you are interested in becoming one of the team running the hall, please let us know. As well as additional trustees we are looking for people to join the hall management team.
